SUMMARY: |
Clayton is the President of a Vancouver-based firm providing arbitration, business valuation, and securities regulation services. He testifies frequently in the Supreme Court of British Columbia as well as at arbitration hearings. In his role as an arbitrator, he has made awards relating to statutory commodity pricing issues and numerous shareholder disputes. He has been appointed as a Special Referee by the Supreme Court on several matters.
He holds Fellowships in the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia ("ICABC") and Ontario , the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators, and the UK-based Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He has lectured and published widely. Among his publications are the following: "Expert Evidence in the Supreme Court of British Columbia" ( BeyondNumbers , the Journal of the ICABC, November/December 2009); "Accountants in Court" ( CA Magazine , July 1980 [co-authored with D.W. Roberts, QC]); "Expert Evidence in the Supreme Court of British Columbia" ( The Advocate , the Journal of the Law Society of B.C., March 1988 [co-authored with Allen McDonnel, QC]).
Clayton is a past President of the ICABC and a former member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
